Jay Barry has been drawn to art since an early age. Fortunately his parents saw this and encouraged his drawing with art supplies and lessons throughout his life. As a child he drew comics and sold them door to door. In high school, his drawings made him happy, and he started to share them with his close friends. Throughout his life and travels, he has pulled out a sketch pad when he could, always trying to find the right medium, and the right subject matter, and always feeling like there’s something more. Until he hit on two of his favorite things: Dance and motorcycles.
Jay never knew how to dance until college when he took a social dance class. Then it was practice until 2 am, go out dancing to live bands, and learn as many moves as he could by watching people dance. Jay saw that connection, the smiles, (that vintage style) and he wanted to be a part of it.
Jay always had a love for motorcycles as well. He always wanted one ever since he could ride a bicycle and went looking for the next big thing. But his parents were strictly opposed, and it wasn’t until after high school that a friend lent him a motorcycle when he could achieve this dream. Fast forward to new century and he is able to get a motorcycle with a sidecar to explore the backroads of Colorado with his wife.
Jay can’t sit still, and is always looking for something new—either to paint or to experience—so stay tuned for more adventures, more paintings, and more styles to emerge as he explores the world around him.
